In my twenties…long, long ago, I started my professional career teaching middle school history and did so for 13 years. The profession of teaching was a challenging and rewarding endeavor in my early life. It taught me so much about myself. It gave me the confidence I needed to speak publically and to communicate effectively while humbling me to the core. Nothing can get you grounded like middle schoolers picking up on your every weakness and hunting you like prey. Hahaha!
Teaching helped me to reach seemingly unmotivated souls and subtly guide and motivate them toward their God-given potential but it also set the stage for the next twenty years and my desire to become a professional counselor. In 2006, I graduated with a Masters in counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Right after graduation, I headed to Wheaton college to be trained in Healing Prayer by Leann Payne and started using this beautiful modality in my counseling practice. I was also trained extensively by Judith and Francis McNutt at Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL. I completed all of their healing prayers schools (1-4) and have applied this education to work with clients for many many years. Healing prayer has become not just a speciality but a way of life.
My work and study in the areas of trauma, PTSD, and attachment have been extensive and an area of high interest for me. About 8 years ago, I also became certified in EMDR and have been using this tool in my work as well.
In 2013, I began working with a special subset of survivors and was the founder of my own non-profit for women coming out of incarceration and human trafficking. Although this particular season has passed, I love this work and still continue to see women in private practice.
In addition to counseling, my heart has been for ministry in the church and the Christian community at large. I have led and taught in women’s ministry in a couple of different churches, written bible studies, and spoken at retreats. I currently serve on the Board of The Nurture Place, which serves the mental health needs of primarily children and their families.
In this season of my life, I would like to draw on my years of experience in teaching, counseling, and ministry to bring you workshops and retreats that will draw you into a deeper relationship with God and heal your heart and soul in ways that leave you connected, loved, and filled with Kingdom purpose.

Where am I coming from spiritually?
I hold all experience and knowledge in tension as it is confirmed generally through scripture. I believe God still speaks to us in our Spirits, through our experiences, in creation, and through relationships with our fellow travelers.
I feel quite comfortable going in between right and left-orientated believers. My driving principle is grace through relationship and truth. I believe that God is always working redemption in our stories, and the deeper we know our story, the more we will see His hand in it. I believe God allows us to co-labor with Him in the redemptive work of humankind.
I believe in the gifts of the Spirit, but I will not specifically teach on them, nor do I use them in a distracting, overtly public way.
I adhere strictly to the Apostle’s Creed and love a liturgical church. My background is Catholic, but I became a true follower of Christ in a Baptist setting. My faith and knowledge grew while being discipled in a Presbyterian church and then a non-denominational community. I attended a Reformed seminary and have been part of a charismatic, believing Anglican church for many years. I call myself a “Christian Mutt” and love the diversity of my Christian story because it helped me to realize the beautiful gifts every denomination and expression of faith holds for the body of Christ.
I believe that a vibrant faith continues to grow in a deeper relationship with God the Father made known to us through Jesus Christ empowered by His Holy Spirit.
